How to SaveSomeJack on Your Car...

  • Watch gas prices.
With gas prices rising, it’s more important than ever to watch gas prices. Despite what the companies wish you to believe, gas is gas...Mobil is no better than Gulf.  Watch for lower prices (they fluctuate greatly from station to station)...a $.10/gal difference can mean $2.00 per fillup!  Fill your tank once a week and you’re talking over $100 per year!

  • Don’t use premium grade gasoline.
Unless you owner’s manual requires it. It’s not necessary and is a huge waste of money.

  • Combine shopping trips.
According to the government, when you consider gas, tires, depreciation, and maintenance, cars can cost $.36 per mile to drive...that 5 mile trip to the store actually costs you about $3.60! Don’t make special trips to the store...combine several stops into one trip...it will save you time and money!

  • Do routine car maintenance yourself.
You can purchase the supplies to change your oil for about $8-10, but service stations charge $20-30. An air filter costs about $4, but they charge $10-20!  When you consider the time and cost of driving to the auto shop and then waiting for service, you’re really not saving any time over doing it yourself and it’s costing you a bunch more!
